The performance of the petite Model S is nothing short of extraordinary. The reason is partly due to the innovative design of the Steinway & Sons Model S-15 speaker. Because the Model S-15 relegates bass duties to boundary woofers, it reproduces only high and midrange frequencies, and it does both with incredible volume capabilities and zero distortion. Its legendary performance makes it a perfect match for medium-sized high-performance home theaters.
A key feature of the Model S-15 speaker is its innovative AER (Ambience Enhancing Radiation) dipole tweeter design. This design disperses the highest frequencies, which produces a spacious and live effect throughout the listening room, similar to the effect you get from our flagship Model D speaker or a live instrument.

Ultra-rigid construction
Hold the Model S-15 in your hand, and you’ll immediately feel the quality of its surprisingly heavy, ultra-rigid low-resonance construction. Inside, a matte gold colored aluminum frame serves as the backbone. The midrange driver is tightly clamped between the metal back and front, preventing any resonance. The design is a reference to the original Steinway & Sons Model S piano, featuring a perfect high-gloss-lacquer cabinet with the matte gold inner construction shining through, ennobled with the original Steinway & Sons logo.
Extraordinary midrange driver and tweeter
Only the best is good enough, even in our smallest loudspeaker, which offers an Air Motion Transformer with an ultra-thin, folded Kapton diaphragm for completely clear, distortion-free performance even during the loudest crescendos. The midrange is taken over by a light aluminum cone driven by an extremely powerful neodymium magnet. When combined with one of the Steinway & Sons woofer models, the sound performance belies its size.
Ingenious dipole tweeter design
Our large flagship Model D loudspeaker is famous for its dipole design, exciting the sound in a room like an instrument would. But a dipole design in a very small on-wall speaker? Impossible? Meet the Model S-15, featuring a dipole tweeter with our ingenious AER technology, Ambience Enhancing Radiation. It diverts the backwards sound to either side, using a specifically angled reflector that extends the sound field while it also cancels-out reflections at the room’s nearest sidewalls, for the purest sound.
